Five musicians play five instruments for exactly five minutes. The form is strictly defined, the ratio 3:2 is the highest commandment, the numbers 3 and 2 are central motifs. This form is filled with composer Simon Gamper’s thoughts about his finitude. Or rather his fear of it. “Twilight whispering between life and death”, as the author Magdalena Ferdigg calls it.
Ultimately, FUENF (Five) remains a conglomerate of longer and shorter, alternating sounds of different heights produced by different instruments. And it sounds surprisingly positive.
