Wolfgang Kössler, born and grown up in Merano, played as a teenager in the Bürgerkapelle Untermais. Inspired by playing music together, he composed the Tammerle-March when he was just seventeen years old, dedicating it to Erwin Theiner from the Tammerle-Hof in Merano, who was a long-time drum major and honorary member of the Bürgerkapelle Untermais.
