Andreas Pabst (* 28 July 1979 in Karl-Marx-Stadt) was musically influenced by the Dresdner Kreuzchor. From 2000 to 2005 he studied conducting and piano at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden. During his studies he was engaged as Music Supervisor on the cruise ship AIDAcara and conducted the choir recordings for the album “Reise, Reise” by the rock band Rammstein. Then he worked as a répétiteur and director of the children’s choir at the Oper Leipzig and held a teaching position for choral conducting at the Musikhochschule Dresden.
This was followed by an engagement as conductor and rehearsal pianist at the Colosseum Theater in Essen for Das Phantom der Oper. Five years later (2013/2014) he conducted Tanz der Vampire am Theater des Westens in Berlin. From 2008 to 2010 he was artistic director of the Chorakademie at the Konzerthaus Dortmund (Essen and Gelsenkirchen branches). As assistant musical director and pianist, he participated in various musical productions at the Vereinigte Bühnen Bozen, the Staatsoperette Dresden and the Theater Chemnitz.
In 2014, he was musical director and arranger for the German premiere of the musical Die schwarzen Brüder with Maite Kelly, among others, at Schloss Bückeburg. In 2016, he was the musical director for the world premiere of the musical Der Medicus at the Schlossstheater Fulda. As musical director and arranger, he was largely responsible for the tour Musical Non Stop.
Pabst has been artistic director of the Singakademie Chemnitz since 2012 and also directed the Singakademie Plauen from 2015 to 2016. From 2016 to 2021 he was choir director of the Sorbisches National-Ensemble Bautzen.
He writes arrangements for symphony orchestras, such as the Vogtland Philharmonie Greiz Reichenbach, as well as for choirs, ensembles and bands.
