Grieser Prozessionsmarsch
P. Oswald Jaeggi OSB (1913 in Basel – 1963 in Glarus) composed the “Grieser Prozessionsmarsch” in 1957, a processional march that was premiered by the Grieser Bürgerkapelle under the direction of Josef Silbernagl.
As the instrumentation for wind orchestra did not quite correspond to current practice even at that time, it was unfortunately soon forgotten. However, as this sacred composition is a very special work, the honorary conductor of the VSM, Gottfried Veit, took it on and orchestrated it from scratch. He not only added all the instrumental parts for the modern wind orchestra, but also updated the clarinet part, the horn part and the parts for the percussion instruments.
Naturally, this new edition also includes all transpositions (horns in F and E flat as well as baritone, trombones and tubas in bass and treble clef).
