Kastelruther Jubiläumsmarsch
The “Kastelruther Jubiläumsmarsch” was commissioned for the 225th anniversary of the Musikkapelle Kastelruth, one of the oldest wind bands in Tyrol. It begins with an opening fanfare, which motivically already hints at the trio melody. After the first solemn part, a soft intermediate section is heard, adorned with rhythmic motifs. This is followed by a marked “bass part” which, with a renewed hint of the trio motif, takes a surprising turn before the bass group comes into play again. After the repetition of the first part, the “coda” leads to the trio. Here, the musicians’ voice comes into play. The composition is written in such a way that the word “Kastelruth” can be replaced by any other name of a village in the text.
Sublime trumpet signals and playful piccolo ornaments frame the vocal part before a joyful intermediate section introduces the grand finale. This begins with a surprising tempo reduction in the grandioso and ends in the solemn conclusion of the trio melody.
